In my opinion, a man being filmed throwing hand grenades into a fox hole for two hours doesn't constitute a war movie. Quite how Mel Gibson thought that a man being reduced to hamburger on screen for two hours would pass for a thoughtful representation of Christ's last day is slightly beyond me.
