Students from around the UK converged on Parliament today in order to tie cards detailing their own personal debts on the railings. They can't have stuck around very long, by the time I got there (late morning) the street was lined with bemused tourists. Some might argue that the students had found a nearby pub, but that would be stereotyping.

In my opinion, a man being filmed throwing hand grenades into a fox hole for two hours doesn't constitute a war movie. Quite how Mel Gibson thought that a man being reduced to hamburger on screen for two hours would pass for a thoughtful representation of Christ's last day is slightly beyond me.

The 'knuckle-duster' cat stroking method - as demonstrated on boyfriend Matt by my sister Sara on the occasion of her 30th birthday.

It goes without saying that the vehicles on show at this year's Volksworld show at Sandown Park were of an extremely high quality. The paint finish on this 'Razor-edge' Ghia was extraordinary.

I haven't paid a visit to the
Natural History Museum for almost six years. Back then, if I remember correctly, it cost a 'tidy' sum to gain entrance. Now it's free and I can't believe I haven't visited any sooner. Two hours were swallowed up without effort and I only happened to be passing on my way to South Kensington tube.

Mayor Ken's London St. Patrick's Day Parade turned out to be a bit of a washout. Driving wind and heavy rain kept all but the most hardened Londoners away. Even St. Patrick himself was having trouble walking on his stilts.

For a brief moment this afternoon, the grey skies above Streatham became a more colourful place. It looked as if the pot of gold might be in Brixton, however chances are it'll have gone by now.

Not sure who took this photograph, however I thought it an appropriate follow-up to Wednesday's pic. It features 603 (City of Edinburgh) Squadron RAF. My grandfather, Alexander Wishart is third from right, front row. I think he looks a bit like Charlie Chaplin.
I've uploaded a selection of his WWII photographs
here in the genealogy section of this site.

I had the privilege of being able to photograph some of the letters and documents contained in the John Murray Archive, which is being sold to The National Library for Scotland in Edinburgh. This was one of the many letters written by Byron to the London publisher.
